On the Fourth of July, I went to my Mom's house. I didn't go for a cookout, I didn't go for fireworks. I didn't go to celebrate.
The kids and I celebrated Independence Day with the Bray community a week before. Which was a great show.
I'm glad to see a community celebration coming together. I graduated from this school, so did my Mother and Aunt and Uncle. My family has been a part of this community for nearly a century.
Fireworks are always a beautiful midsummer experience for the family.
Yet, I took my camera and clicked two or three (hundred). I edit two or three.
I'm not kidding. I only edit very few from a batch. Mainly because I think I might want to edit more someday and most of the fun is in shooting. I know in my head which photos will be worth processing when I get home.
The 4th of July - Independence Day- a celebration of our Declaration of Independence, which terrorizes my little dog- began slowly. Good to be home after an intense month of June on the Great Plains. Spent the day feeling pretty tired and worn down, but my husband drove me out to my parents (because I didn't feel well - and then instead of a walk we went out for a four wheeler drive).
I've been meaning to get some more interesting shots of the rig while it was out there. I finally got a few.
I can't believe there are still wildflowers blooming in July! This is very unusual, it's also very, very humid and my asthma is so bad I felt horrible whenever I left the house last week. I've also battled with three weeks of bug bites and poison ivy and it's finally healing up so I'm paranoid about being one with nature!
So look at this little arachnid watching the rig as we were. How such a tiny creature can strike such primal terror in people. I am not scared of spiders. I don't really want to get all warm and fuzzy and hold him though, but...
My husband didn't mind. Let's see, it's July 4th so we have officially been together 19 years now.
It was a catch and release kind of day.
It hasn't totally ruined the view.
"Paint me like one of your French girls"...
While this was by far my best shot of the evening.... we headed home and finished the evening with a few fireworks.
I hope all my readers had a great holiday! Mine wasn't typical, but why should we have to spend our lives doing what's typical.
