Saturday morning I was on a mission to pick up a friend so we could go to a not so surprising, surprise birthday party that afternoon. I made it to Tishomingo right before The Pink Pistol opened. I had intended to visit the store before now, on one of my routine grocery shopping trips to Ardmore, but just haven't had the chance. I was early and my friend hadn't gotten back to me so I was stuck with some time to waste.
The Pink Pistol is a store owned by country singer celebrity Miranda Lambert
Plenty of bloggers have written blogs about visiting The Pink Pistol, but I was blogging about Tishomingo before people were talking about it. Three years ago we were traveling to Tishomingo to visit my Cousin and family in Tishhomingo. Here is a post from a couple of years ago about Tishomingo.
Boots are a love of mine. I didn't buy any. I know I would be in trouble if I did. I did see some I like though!
This photo is for my wonderful friend, Mandie, who I wouldn't know were it not for Blake Shelton (which is true).
The staff at The Pink Pistol were having pajama day. I took some iPhone shots for them and they let me get a few good shots. They were super sweet ladies and I got a signature Pink Pistol old fashioned soda drink for my photography. :-)
I love vanilla and cherry - usually in a coke from Sonic; my normal stop is at the Dairy Queen in Tishomingo (which we no longer have in Duncan or Marlow - or anywhere near where I live)- for a chocolate cherry blizzard. But I skipped it this time.
And a shot of myself at the soda fountain. Thanks to the staff who made this an interesting shopping experience. Yes, I did shop, because I am quite skilled at shopping for sport. I even own my very own pink pistol that I got for Christmas.
Another shot of the lovely staff. Have you listened to Miranda lately? Mama's Broken Heart
You probably should listen to this song too: Baggage Claim
I've loved Miranda Lambert's music for about as long as I've been listening to country (since 2004). She was one of the first artists that I went to see live at the Choctaw Nation Labor Day festival in Tuskahoma. So maybe stop and listen to this song too: Only Prettier
I love the idea of economic development and in this portion of Oklahoma what is going on is amazing. The Chickasaw and Choctaw nation along with great celebrities like Miranda and Blake are doing wonderful things to bring people to and revitalize our state.
What is unique about this store is that a celebrity such as Miranda could have opened a store in any big city in the country and find success, but she didn't. As I left Tishomingo with my friend main street was filling up with shoppers for The Pink Pistol and other shops. Small town USA needs revitalizing and these are the people who make it possible.
After we left we had an amazing birthday party and great evening with friends.
Just look at how two of my favorite girls from Tishomingo are growing. :-)
