I remember visiting Boggy Depot as a teenager with my Mom and Sister, actually I remember visiting the cemetery, we like cemeteries in my family, you see. Genealogy is a passion of most of my family members. Now, I wanted to visit Boggy Depot after reading the Autobiography of James Rivers who just happened to be my Father's Great Uncle who was stationed there during the Civil War for a brief period. Boggy Depot was once a major town in Indian Territory. Here is an article from the Chronicles of Oklahoma which explains the importance of Boggy Depot far better than I can. I will provide some images, it also has a nice little campground. Old Boggy Depot. Boggy Depot Map. I have pictures of the park but it truly is a ghost town punctuated by signs of what once was.
