So the other day I took a different route to school with the intention of doing some photography. I like my small town postings in this area because sometimes you can't find a lot of information about a place. So I got off the interstate at Pauls Valley. A town that I've never really been to, despite the fact that it really isn't that far from where I live. Pauls Valley is in Garvin County. It is off of Interstate 35. I misplaced my place name book so I can't share that little bit of information with you.

When you go to a town on the interstate, you often have to drive through the recently developed section of town to find the old parts of town with the interesting buildings and things to see, while it's nice to stop at a place that has a Walmart, Sonic, McDonald's, hotels, it is also nice to find the places that give a town it's unique flavor. Pauls Valley has a restored railroad depot, where you can hop on Amtrak. I stopped here first, and parked in their parkinglot to avoid those horrible parallel parking spaces on a few of the othere downtown streets. I pretty much won't photograph anywhere that will force me to park parallel. Because, I'm such a good driver. I am. No tickets. Well one ticket, but it was for not wearing a seatbelt. But, that doesn't really count.

There were a couple of dudes working on restoring the old caboose.

I have to make this cheesy, I really do. There is no way that I can present you a photograph of an old train and not make it look all vintage sepia, it would ruin the feel.

I love these old brick buildings with their advertising painted on them. This one looks restored, but I love finding them in these small towns, I try to photograph them. They are very quaint.

But what Pauls Valley is known for is the Action Figure museum.

The Toy & Action Figure Museum So I've decided I really don't like going to museums that much and I certainly don't like photographing them. I've kind of quit that on my page. I will show you the front of the museum though. Stop on by.

I didn't have time to go in. But I really am not interested in toys and action figures.

Another shot from the park by the depot. Here is the offical website of Pauls Valley

Another shot using a nice sepia filter.

Tulips on the street corners. I love tulips, street corners not so much.

It's a bird, its' a plane...nope, it is just a train. I was getting in my car to leave and a train had arrived. So instead of sitting behind it at a crossing cursing at it for making me late. I got a few shots of a train at a depot. I guess seeing these by these buildings really give you a better idea of their size and power.

They dwarf those big ole' pickup trucks.

The amtrak sign looks slightly cooler with a train going by. Okay enough of that, and I needed to get to Norman to go to class.

Another shot of the town.

Shop local! Yes! Buy all your Chinese made crap from local merchants! Certainly, I believe in shopping local. It's a great idea to support your local small town businesses when you can. They appreciate it more than the corporate machine.

I should start photographing the developed areas of towns where I could show you how so many towns look the same. The McDonald's, The KFC, Taco Bells, Walmarts, K-Marts, Targets, the places everyone goes to shop at that all look the same. But, that would be boring and kind of depressing, yet their convenience is what keeps us going back.

So that's all of Pauls Valley. Pauls Valley is in Chickasaw Country
