In November, I attended the Oklahoma Fall Fine Arts Institute . It was held at the Quartz Mountain Resort. If you are an educator in Oklahoma, no matter what you teach, this is a wonderful opportunity for you. I do not teach art, I’m a history/Special Education teacher so this was a step outside of my comfort zone, but a very rewarding one. If you are not a teacher, I recommend visiting the Quartz Mountain Resort, it is a beautiful place to stay, surrounded by mountains and overlooking a lake.
The Oklahoma Fall Arts institute is provided for educators in Oklahoma and gives them the opportunity to study with world class artists. I had the opportunity to study photography with two very talented individuals, Amy Stein and Ben Long.
The institute was four days long while others were writing fiction , folk dancing, printmaking and painting we were going on photo shoots and studying composition and editing. This was a wonderful experience and I learned a great deal about photography. I certainly owe my growing interest in photography to the two artists above. The following are a few shots from Western Oklahoma and the Quartz Mountain area.
